Fog often drifts over the tree tops leaving a sliver of sky or it cuts downward between the individual hills.
While waiting I made some simple sketches on the backs of junk mail envelopes as this idea came to me. I thought about crosses hidden in the trees along the distance.
I found a deeper meaning as I worked on this painting. Over the years and as recently as this Christmas I have lost some of the most important adult figures I’ve ever had in my life. I decided to add only three crosses for them and the title Lost Giants came from my memories of these very special people.
Loss and environment inspired my new painting
